What can a Family Mediator do for me?

A Family Mediator is an impartial friend, ready to guide you and another party through difficult conversations related to a variety of domestic matters;

Divorce Agreements that may include pets and/or children

Updates to existing Custody Agreements

A Family Mediator can:

Educate but not advise on applicable laws, they are primarily focused on helping you and those close to you resolve conflict outside of the court system. To learn more about how your dispute or needs may be supported in the court system; please consult a lawyer.

Document agreements as they are reached for signature

Assist with filing some documents with courts

**A Family Mediator is not a Family or Personal Counselor, we are here to help you reach agreements (which may include an agreement to seek counseling!)

  • Peacemaker

    A peacemaker is a competent, impartial, party who can help parties resolve any dispute that is fully outside of court proceedings. If you have an issue where all parties are not in the state of Indiana, we can still assist you as a peacemaker. Historically, a role played by a religious or community leader that all parties equally trust. A peacemaker is not protected by any ADR rules and is not recognized by courts. A peacemaker makes no decisions. A peacemaker can not advise in legal matters.

  • Mediator

    A mediator has met some certification and training requirements for a specific municipality and type(s) of mediation case(s). A mediator may be protected by ADR rules depending on the status of a discussion with the courts. A mediator makes no decisions. A mediator may educate but not advise on legal matters.
